The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of refugees on the German Labor market. The first section gives an overview on the labor conditions. The second part includes an analysis of the demographic structure of Saxony-Anhalt, a possible skill shortage resulting from the aging population and a comparison of several projects and integration processes, which support refugees in their job searches. It must be pointed out that the study will only consider refugees from the wave of refugees in 2014 to 2016. To overcome obstacles such as language barriers and bureaucracy processes, it is necessary to develop an effective change concept, which includes aspects of diversity management and integration measures, to support companies with the placement of foreign employees. Two companies, that are located in the south of Saxony-Anhalt, were selected. A questionnaire was sent to the two companies that involved an electronic engineering firm and a construction firm. An interview was recorded on an audio tape and conducted with the manager of the engineering company. The results of the study show that refugees cannot fully reduce the skill shortage in several branches in Saxony-Anhalt. On the basis of the study it can be concluded that the integration will require a long way of attending integration and language courses until refugees are able to apply for a job.
